I started out my training for the priesthood in 2001, traveling to St Mary's College, Oscott, in Birmingham.   There I studied for six years in total: the first three years were dedicated to obtaining a BA with honours from Birmingham University in Theology, after an extended placement I then continued my studies to obtain another Theology degree from Leuven in Belgium - this being a Church degree called an STB.

I was ordained Deacon in 2007 and then to the priesthood in 2008.

Subsequent to my ordination I began my ministry at the Catholic Cathedral in Wrexham; this turned out to be a highly successful ministry with work varying from the many large diocesan events that took place at the Cathedral to visiting people in hospital and at home, and to youth work and work in schools.

As my ministry grew, and so did I; I came to understand that God was a lot bigger, more loving and more forgiving than we ever give him credit for.   The great work I undertook with our Churches Together group in Wrexham opened my eyes to the great and limitless nature of the love of God in action.

Throughout 2013 I had some awesome opportunities to attend ecumenical events; one with Bishop Gene Robinson, a retired bishop from the Epsicopalian Church in New Hampshire, USA and another in London where I learned the story of Fr John McNeill, SJ who was pushed out of the Catholic Church - not because he’d done anything wrong, but because of his views and ideas that challenged Church teaching.

This last event was almost prophetic, as at the tail-end of 2013 the diocese began to bring pressured to bear on my ministry.   In February 2014 I made the difficult decision to step away from the safety and security of the priesthood.

In my Freelance Ministry I hope to continue to bring that authentic and loving message to all who wish to hear it.   Whether it’s funerals or marriage blessings, I am merely a conduit for the immense love of God which does not judge, but rather, makes us who we are.
